The standard windshield for the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 and that of the Special are mounted together with a support frame. To this end, the support frame is bolted to the windshield at a total of four points using the Pan America’s height-adjustable windshield bracket.
It turned out that this type of assembly can lead to the windshield together with the support frame detaching from the two height adjustment brackets in high wind loads associated with turbulence. This happens almost unnoticed. In addition, unauthorised individuals who know the special mounting principle can remove and steal the windshield in no time. All they need to do is loosen the upper retaining points and pull them out of the height adjustment guides. No tools are needed.
With our windshield safeguard, which consists of two subtle, black powder-coated safety plates, we kill two birds with one stone: The two precisely manufactured safeguards prevent the windshield and height adjustment support frame from coming loose on their own. They are easy to install and ensure that the upper brackets of the windshield are permanently secure, i.e. they can no longer come loose on their own and unnoticed as a result of turbulent wind loads. They also reduce the risk of theft, because the windshield can only be removed once the safety plates have been removed. And tools are required to remove them.
