The standard windscreen of the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 and the Special is mounted together with a supporting frame. The supporting frame and windscreen are secured at a total of four points to the height-adjustable windscreen mounting system of the Pan America.
It has been found that this type of mounting can result in the windscreen, together with the supporting frame, becoming almost unnoticedly detached from the two height-adjustment mounts under high wind loads combined with turbulence. In addition, unauthorised persons who are familiar with the specific mounting principle can remove and steal the windscreen in next to no time. Simply releasing the upper mounting points and pulling the windscreen out of the height-adjustment guides is sufficient. No tools are required.
With our windscreen security system, consisting of two discreet, black powder-coated securing plates, we solve two problems at once: The two precision-manufactured securing plates prevent the windscreen and supporting frame from becoming detached from the height-adjustment system on their own. They are easy to install and ensure that the upper mounts of the standard windscreen remain permanently secured, meaning that they can no longer become detached on their own and unnoticed as a result of turbulent wind loads. They also reduce the risk of theft, as the windscreen can only be removed once the securing plates have been taken off. And tools are required for this.
