In an emergency, it protects the tank and the frame around the steering head from major damage in the event of a tip-over, fall or accident. Even more importantly, it also protects hands and arms from being trapped. We are talking about the steering stop. Often a small, inconspicuous metal block that determines the maximum steering angle of the handlebar and is intended to prevent it folding in when in doubt. Actually a sensible feature. Were it not for one serious issue: frequently, the welded-on or forged stops, which are often undersized, bend or even tear off when force is applied. This inevitably results in loss of the operating licence because the frame loses its approval. After all, this inconspicuous component is relevant for the roadworthiness test.

Our energy-absorbing steering stop limiter provides the remedy

The original steering stops, the frame and the tank are reliably protected by our limiters, which support themselves against a suitable, stable point on the frame at maximum steering lock, and they reduce the risk of damage! In the event of a tip-over or fall, their large rubber blocks limit and damp the steering lock before the standard steering stops are reached with full force. The material properties of the limiters have been selected so that the stop damping is initially soft and then becomes progressive as the steering lock increases. In doing so, they absorb the impact energy, protect the original steering stops and reduce the risk of the standard steering stop bending or breaking off.

Of course, in the event of a fall, the limiters also create space for hands and forearms and reduce the risk of trapping.

For technical reasons, the protective function entails a slight reduction in steering lock, which is unnoticeable in everyday use. The function of the steering lock is, of course, not impaired.

Installing the two steering stop limiters is extremely simple: first they are attached to the fork legs using a concealed, high-quality 3M adhesive tape and then additionally secured with a robust cable tie, which fits unobtrusively into the circumferential groove provided for this purpose.
